A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
For an evening with a little more to it.
Behind the columns on West Street, this former Methodist church has become a gathering place for music, theatre, talks and creative sessions. Choose something from the live programme and let a little wander around Ashburton turn into an evening out.
In 2017, local fundraising helped Ashburton Arts buy the old Methodist church at auction. The building now hosts visiting performers alongside local artists and community groups. Its regular activities range from life drawing and yoga to a folk orchestra and Javanese gamelan sessions. There is plenty to join in with as well as sit and listen to: start with the current programme, pick what catches your attention, and check whether to book through the box office or the activity organiser.
