A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
Big sea views without a big expedition
An open clifftop landscape with a level surfaced circuit and longer coast-path options.
Bolberry Down is an inviting place to give a coastal afternoon some breathing room. The plateau has wide sea views and a surfaced circular route, making it possible to enjoy the headland without committing to the steeper paths below. Benches offer a reason to stop and simply watch the weather move across the water.
There is more here if you want a longer outing. Paths continue towards the old cliff fort at Bolt Tail or descend towards Soar Mill Cove. Those extensions have very different terrain, so choose the route that suits your group rather than assuming every path is equally easy.
For a short visit, bring a flask and follow the level circuit. For a bigger day, use the National Trust trail notes and leave time for the return climb.
