Dartington’s gardens invite a slower sort of exploring. Paths move between open views and intimate planting, with the terraced Tiltyard giving the landscape its distinctive shape. Take the garden guide at the entrance and let the route unfold around trees, stonework and sculpture. There is plenty to notice in different seasons, and the Hall estate makes it easy to build a longer outing around a visit.
