A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
Cake, a cash tin and the coast path
A wonderfully simple honesty café on a National Trust farm, made for a pause between coastal walks.
East Soar is the sort of stop that makes a walk feel like a day out. In a farmyard close to the coast path, the Walkers’ Hut offers tea, coffee, cakes and cream teas on an honesty basis. Choose something, settle in and leave your cash payment: it is refreshingly straightforward.
The farm is an outdoor education centre, so this is a working place with a purpose beyond the café. There is a small rustic play area, and dogs are welcome inside on leads. Park at the National Trust car park at the top of the lane and finish the journey on foot.
Bring small change and check the diary before leaving home. The hut opens seasonally and closes on some wedding days; a little preparation makes this a lovely addition to a coastal wander.
