A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
Rock pools, long sands and a sea arch
A broad beach beside Thurlestone Rock, with space for a seaside wander and a lingering sunset.
South Milton Sands is an easy place to build a whole beach afternoon around. The shore opens out towards Thurlestone Rock, the offshore arch that gives the view its distinctive shape. At lower tide, rocks and pools invite a closer look, while the length of the beach leaves room for a slower wander.
The National Trust car park sits behind the beach, with boardwalks and a slipway helping with the approach. There is also an accessible viewing platform, useful if the sand itself is not practical. Dogs are welcome throughout the year under control.
Bring a picnic, make time to explore and stay for the changing light if the weather suits. The narrow approach lanes can be busy, so an early start makes sense on popular beach days. Check any café plans separately.
