A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
A blue shop with a tucked-away cheese courtyard
Discover Westcountry cheeses, then slip through the grey gates for a leisurely courtyard lunch.
The bright blue frontage is easy to spot; the little courtyard behind it is the part you might miss. The Cheese Shed’s shop is kept cool like a maturing room, with whole cheeses stacked on shelves and a changing counter drawn from more than a hundred varieties. Follow the side lane through the grey gates and the visit becomes lunch: a cheese platter or toastie, depending on the season, in a restored courtyard with sheltered barn seating. It is a wonderfully specific reason to spend time in Bovey Tracey. Ask for guidance at the counter rather than choosing only a familiar name.
The lovely little details
