A PLACE WORTH KNOWING

Coffee on the old lifeboat slipway

A family-run café in South Sands’ old lifeboat house, with beach tables, simple lunches and seasonal pizza evenings.

Bo’s has one of those settings that supplies most of the day’s entertainment for you. The café occupies the old lifeboat house at South Sands, where the slipway runs towards the water and the tables invite you to watch the beach unfold. The Sherring family opened the business in 2001, giving a building with a much longer maritime history another useful life. Start with breakfast, return for sandwiches or a salad, and keep an eye on the announced pizza evenings if you would like to stay later. Nearby watersports and the seasonal South Sands ferry can make this part of a bigger outing, provided their schedules and conditions suit your plans. It is particularly appealing when you want the sea close at hand without making lunch a formal occasion. The café’s season normally ends in early November, so autumn visits need a last-minute opening check.
