A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
Crab, cracked shells and the working harbour
A bright quayside restaurant where local crab is cooked and picked on site, with harbour tables and a menu made for a seafood outing.
Crab Shed gives lunch a strong sense of place. Its home is the Fish Quay, with boats and the harbour beside the tables, and crab arriving from local day boats is cooked and hand-picked here. There is a light, relaxed dining room as well as outdoor seating when the weather invites it. The menu lets you choose how much of an occasion to make: a crab sandwich for lunch, linguine with the kitchen’s own crab, or a whole cracked crab and something chilled to drink. Fish, mussels and a changing day-boat catch give non-crab eaters plenty to consider. Build in time for a wander around Salcombe afterwards, rather than squeezing a booking between errands. This is one to reserve, especially in busy holiday weeks; finding a parking space can take longer than the walk from it.
