A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
A garden moment, kept in plaster
Botanical relief casts preserving the shapes and textures of flowers and foliage.
Lisa Richards turns flowers and foliage into quietly detailed relief casts. Plants are pressed into clay, removed, then captured in plaster so that stems, petals and seed heads remain as raised forms. Many pieces are left pale and unpainted, making light and shadow part of their appeal. Her Cockington studio is a lovely stop after wandering the gardens, especially if you enjoy noticing small botanical details. Lisa also accepts personal commissions, including wedding and memorial flowers; discuss those well ahead, because suitable plants and timing matter to the finished work.
