A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
Shells, sea creatures and a slower way of making
Stone sculpture for home and garden, with small beginner carving courses at Sea Change Studios.
Nicola Axe turns stone into forms that invite a closer look: curling shells, expressive heads and creatures inspired by the sea. Her work includes Portland limestone alongside colourful alabaster and serpentine, giving the pieces very different moods and surfaces. Studio 2 is a place to browse sculpture and discuss a commission, with work also displayed in the window. For a more involved visit, Nicola offers beginner stone-carving courses in a very small group, making a Cockington trip an opportunity to learn a patient craft. Contact her before making a special journey, since installations and deliveries can take her away, and arrange course dates directly rather than arriving for a drop-in session.
