A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
Watch molten glass become something beautiful
A working glass studio with colourful pieces to take home from the Stable Yard.
OurGlass is the Cockington stop for watching a material change before your eyes. The makers use traditional glassmaking skills to turn hot glass into colourful vessels, ornaments and paperweights, and visitors can watch the process when work is under way. The studio has been part of the Stable Yard since 1997, giving a village wander a connection with a longstanding local craft. Browse the finished pieces afterwards: the pleasure is in the colour, shape and differences between individual objects. Leave space for the rose garden nearby, and call ahead if glassblowing is the main reason for your trip so you can time the visit around the working studio.
