A PLACE WORTH KNOWING
A farm lunch, fresh bread and a little browse
An organic farm café and shop in a timber-framed barn above the Salcombe estuary, with makers close by.
Village Farm is a good reason to head uphill after crossing to East Portlemouth. The café and small shop sit within an artisan centre on a working organic farm, so lunch has a close connection to the surrounding fields. Expect a changing brunch and lunch menu, homemade bread and plenty of reasons to pick something up for later. The wider barn makes this more than a quick coffee stop: its residents include a florist, Naturemake’s imaginative craft workshop and other independent makers. Check individual opening or workshop arrangements if there is someone you particularly want to visit. The café welcomes dogs and has parking, while the walk up from the ferry is short but steep. Give yourself a leisurely morning for food, browsing and a different view of Salcombe.
